Default Now 13 years sober using SMART recovery

One day at a time all the way to 13 years!

I walked into a SMART meeting and used the online SMART meetings, connecting everyday with the aim of changing my path.

I didn't really understand how much I had to gain by joining SMART recovery and using the tools offered here to make a significant change in my life. Changing my daily drinking habit was my #1 priority 13 years ago, but I got the hang of it over time.

For those seeking motivation, I say, "You can do it too."

Say those three little words, "I don't drink." And believe what you say to yourself to anyone you need to tell. I think that you will find that it takes work and guts to say and believe those words, but you can do it.

A sober life is a better life.

    Hi everyone!
Today is Day 1 for my sobriety. I am so glad I found Smart Recovery. AA was not a good fit for me.

Congratulations NoTrumpAce and well done you good thing!

A marvellous story, well lived, one day at a time.

    Welcome radiant888

A pretty meaningful part of NoTrumpAce's post might be "using a tool" - please consider the support offered in a meeting or 24/7 chat, and the RESOURCES tab above. Well done you for making an effort!
What got me sober was TRYING to get sober. Often when I lapsed, picked up, drank, I FELT thoroughly beaten. I thought at that time "there is no hope for me" Yet, when I had recovered from that thought just a little, I thought "I'll have another GO!" It was a few little sparks, rather than a flame, that got me here!
