10 Years Sober and "Smober"
Thank you, SMART Recovery! Today I am officially 10 years sober and "smober"! I quit both the booze and the smokes on the same day. It seems like another lifetime ago that I was poisoning myself. I am truly grateful to be on this healthy path. I wish everyone well on their personal journey.
By the way, I found SMART Recovery in 1999. I relapsed numerous times prior to to 2011(I hate the phrase, "chronic relapser"). "Never quit trying to quit.

Congratulations Gster on that 10 year gift to yourself and those around you
What got me sober was TRYING to get sober. Often when I lapsed, picked up, drank, I FELT thoroughly beaten. I thought at that time "there is no hope for me"
Yet, when I had recovered from that thought just a little, I thought "I'll have another GO!" 
It was a few little sparks, rather than a flame, that got me here!
