Liver scare
I am so happy to report that my liver numbers were 200% over the normal range. Stopping alcohol, eating better and getting more excerise have lower my numbers back to normal. Grateful for SMART! Not sure I could of done this without learning the tools and attending the meetings daily.

Great news! The restorative properties of the body are simply miraculous. No doubt about it, simply miraculous.
For me, my heart, after consuming goodly amounts of alcohol daily for my entire adult life, decided to start beating irregularly (atrial fibrillation). The outcome of such a condition continuing would have been the formation of a blood clot within my heart which would be unceremoniously sent on its way to my brain causing a stroke. Now that wasn’t an option! This condition can be caused by alcohol consumption so I, without hesitation, quit. After about a weeks abstinence the irregularities in my heart rhythm seemed to have gone away. Thank goodness for that. And I am here at SR to reinforce my knowledge of the appropriate tools in the toolbox to make this transition permanent.“Think of yourself as dead. You have lived your life. Now take what’s left and live it properly.”

So very well done kathyfes1229
Sensational Alan_ZWhat got me sober was TRYING to get sober. Often when I lapsed, picked up, drank, I FELT thoroughly beaten. I thought at that time "there is no hope for me"Yet, when I had recovered from that thought just a little, I thought "I'll have another GO!"
It was a few little sparks, rather than a flame, that got me here!

“ Great news! The restorative properties of the body are simply miraculous. No doubt about it, simply miraculous.“
I cannot agree with you anymore. That is 100% true in the case of my liver enzymes that were over the normal scales many times over that had my liver not recovered it would need replacement.
Every health issue I had, miraculously improved and everything is under control now. Some are non existent since. My doctors did say “ I am lucky with my liver recovery though” and he did mention that it’s mainly due to my total 100% abstinence from alcohol for 1year was the initial period I needed.
Thanks to SMART Recovery and it’s 4-point program that helped me tremendously to be abstinent.
After being sober for an entire year, I then chose to continue being abstinent because I had enough struggling with alcohol the last 29years and I don’t want to be that way anymore. I gained my freedom, and that’s invaluable to me. Thats “The Power of Choice”.
I am happy that things improved for yourselves too kathyfest1229 and Alan_Z, well done
