My Journey,My Story,continued!
One and a half years!
I remember my last drink very clearly. It was December 18 th,2013.
Did I know it would be my last? I was hoping it would.
As I sit here reflecting on the past 18 months I am feeling very grateful
for this journey, and I don't take any of it for granted.
Am I perfect? NO!
Have life's troubles disappeared since I took that last drink? NO!
During this time I have grown.I am learning more every day about who I am.
Im not a bad person, I made bad choices.
Thats the key... Choices, that's one of the things I've learned at SMART!
At a F2F meeting very early in my recovery I was asked,"What is your motivation?"
Immediatly I replied,"My Family"
Although my family is a great motivator my thoughts have shifted,I am my motivation.
I know there will be people reading this questioning...
Can I do this?
What if I fail?
Never drink again?
I asked myself the same things. I was looking too far ahead.
My suggestion is to take small steps.Next week? Next month?
What about doing it for today? Just today, when tomorrow comes ask yourself the same question.
For me,the smaller steps were less daunting.
Im so grateful for this community.I am a work in progress and am so okay with that!
My life is good, I am Good.
This is My Journey,My story... Continued.

Peg,
Congrats to you on your 18 months of abstinence. Thank you for sharing your journey!
I am like you that it was less daunting and more doable to have small goals!
