    Sensational leaf!!
    Power of choice
What got me sober was TRYING to get sober. Often when I lapsed, picked up, drank, I FELT thoroughly beaten. I thought at that time "there is no hope for me" Yet, when I had recovered from that thought just a little, I thought "I'll have another GO!" It was a few little sparks, rather than a flame, that got me here!

    Hi there Leaf
I just re-read what you wrote at the beginning of this thread when you were sober for 4 years. And I loved your quote from the The Matrix:

“Neo, sooner or later you're going to realize just as I did that there's a difference between knowing the path and walking the path.”

I just watched that movie the other day and actually wrote down that line because it seemed to be such an important reminder.

You are obviously walking the path and I'm right here with you and have been for many years. Life is good with people like you in it. Thank you for being such an inspiration.

Big-time congrats on 8 years!! Really nice to see some success here. Little by little I'm finding out who the ones who are who are staying sober. Sometimes I hear people say sobriety time doesn't matter. To me it's bull. I listen to and respect someone who is walking the walk, instead of talking the talk. I "know" a lot about recovery, I could teach this stuff. Walking the walk, and doing the deal is what matters to me, again congrats on 8 years!!
